Just FYI, for the last week or so I get this error about 33% of the time when accessing through Tapatalk (v 3.2.1):

Error 2205 -- Forum is not responding, please try again later.

I don't use tapatalk, but I have noticed the site being laggy frequently, when other sites are not on the same device. I'll click on a post or link, and it will stall when loading, and take up to 30 seconds or do to load the new page.

Reinstall Tapatalk. I had the same issue last summer.

I've noticed another issue.

When searching this site on google chrome I get an error message of file not found. If I hit the back error and click on it again I can get it. Anybody else have this issue?

Now that I'm mechanically running this little site I'll look into it on Monday and see if there is something I need to do.

When I access the site from my phone (no tapatalk) I get the generic vBulletin format - no pretty Rice Eccles background like before. The real problem is the generic format doesn't have a "What's New" button!@

Conversely, I am not a fan of the new Tapatalk update. Very busy and hard to get used to.

I hate to be that guy (the guy who uses a message board for free and then complains about it), but UB5 has become really hard to use for non-tapatalk users. I have to go into each individual category to see what is being discussed. Is there a quick fix to bring back the old format where we had the "What's New" button? If not, no worries, but it makes the phone experience a million times better.

If I go to the regular site (not Tapatalk) on my iPad or iPhone I sometimes have gotten a weird view. There is a very simple way to bypass that, but I don't recall what it was!

I don't have a phone, so I don't know if it works for you. But there is an "activity stream" link that I use for that.

Nope, that's the button that I want. That's the only way to follow this board, in my opinion, but I can only do it from my computer.

Booyah! Thanks, LA. This apparently non-helpful help totally worked.

The trick is to go to the vbulletin menu (it looks like a 3 by 3 matrix) and then avoid all the choices, scroll down to the bottom and click on "go to full site." Viola!

Thanks, admins!

Jarid, I think your site may have some malware on it redirecting people to pornographic sites, much to my near embarrassment.

I was at a remote location, I jumped onto a public computer within an office, thought I'd check out UB5, simply typed 'utahby5' into the address bar (which on my own computer typically gets autofilled to the correct address) and then hit return. It took me to a google search for 'utahby5' so I clicked on the top link which took me to a pornographic site. I shut it down immediately, and thought maybe that public computer had some malware on it.

Later I did the same thing on my personal computer (typed 'utahby5' in the URL with no '.com') on a different browser that I typically use, did the same thing with the same result, this time directing me to a malware site. You can do private browsing and duplicate it if you'd like, but I've tried now on three different computers with the same result (save your pervert jokes please).

It appears the link to utahby5.com redirects to utahby5.com/activity.php which is including a strange url parameters after it (I caught one quick - don't click on this link btw http://www.utahby5.com/activity.php?), which I would guess is causing the redirect. You may want to have your host check out your site to make sure it is all clean.

Anyway, thought you should know.

About 7-8 months ago this site set off all kinds of alarms with my anti-virus. It got so bad it wouldn't even bring the site up. Thought the site had been hijacked so quit even trying until it came up today on Utefans about trying another browser. I normally use Firefox but tried Chrome today and much to my surprise no alarms. More surprising is that I'm using Firefox now and no alarms/warnings...Or porn.

Page loads on UB5 on my iPhone lately are usually very slow and sometimes fail, although I am not using tapatalk. It doesn't seem to happen on other sites, nor when I'm on UB5 on other devices. In fact, trying to reply to this message was impossible on the iPhone, so I had to come do it on my work computer.

It was Comcast's security software. They had a plugin that was breaking my keyboard. I believe it was logging keyboard input to make sure I wasn't typing in credit card numbers or something. You can disable add-ons and see if a similar one is interfering with yours.

Try going to

Yeah, it was the same thing for me. It took me a while to track it down to that security plugin. I'm not sure why it was only affected by the site. It could be a side effect of something mundane like how the site manages cookies that piqued the plugin's attention.

So U-Ute, the no space issue happened to me, I'm on a mac. I've got a console up so I can watch stuff as it loads. So if it happens to me again I'll see if I can track down the error, but I guessing it might be a js issue when it loads the wyswig editor. If I went and began typing behind the un-spaced stuff I could type again with spaces (which might be a workaround for you other non-spacing fellow schlubs).

It appears to be happening when you quote a post too.

I'll let you know what I find.

I agree that there seems to be a problem in the JS code in the wysiwg editor. I've had issues for a long time when replying to a post where the cursor jumps around. I don't have any problems if I hit the "Advanced" button and finish my posting there. So I usually type a couple characters, hit that button, and finish it in the Advanced dialog editor.

Also, I've only had this issue in FireFox. When I use Chrome, I don't have problems.

So, it appears that the Twitter links aren't coming through on the mobile web view.

They are properly embedded on the main site view and come through as links in TapaTalk, but are stripped in the mobile web view.

I'll take a look at it.

Do we need to have a Twitter account to see the tweets in Tapatalk? All I ever see is the link number.

TapaTalk doesn't have a mechanism for us to embed tweets in it, so I just transform the BBCode into a link. You don't need an account to see tweets in a web view, so I believe you should be able to tap on the link in the message and have it pop up a web browser to the tweet.

TapaTalk doesn't have a mechanism for us to embed tweets in it, so I just transform the BBCode into a link. You don't need an account to see tweets in a web view, so I believe you should be able to tap on the link in the message and have it pop up a web browser to the tweet.

Does that not happen?

I have a twitter account (YAY for me!) and cannot see twitter messages on UB% on my phone.

Yes

Do you see the link displayed in the body of the message? It should look something like this:

2051

This is typically how I see things but occasionally, I just see:

81579083907209305072340

That links to nowhere. I assume this is typically due to user error when putting in the embedding code.

Yeah. That happens when people forget to use the BBCode with the Tweet ID.

How about if we have a tweet we just screen shot it and post the picture?

I've done that in the past, so that works just fine. One nice benefit is it doesn't go away if someone deletes the tweet.

I did some digging on the spacebar issue. It appears to be a known issue with vBulletin 4 and newer browsers. Apparently one workaround is to not use the WYSIWIG editor.

Thu 27th Oct '16, 10:30amJust to manage expectations - this is almost certainly an incompatibility between new versions of Chrome and the now quite old version of CKEditor that vBulletin 4 uses as its message editor.

There is no development work on vB4 now, as it is not the current product. The only work being done is php compatibility, any security issues that come up, and a handful of very minor bug fixes. Development work is focused on vB5.

Replacing the version of CKEditor in vB4 would be a major undertaking, requiring months of developer and QA time. I'm afraid that is not likely to happen.

Probably the best bet for any users affected is to get them to switch to the text-only editor ('source mode) instead of the WYSIWYG. They can do this in their user settings.

If you want to upgrade to v5 I'd be willing to put some cash into that.

Why do you hate true love? Next you are going to say word clouds aren't meaningful.

I prefer to call it Thor's Hammer. But I agree that I won't discuss it. I don't want to make people feel self conscious.

On my work computer, it always shows me as not logged in when I first pull up the site (username and password fields appear as empty). But then I click on New Posts or Activity Stream, and it shows me as logged in. Weird, but not too annoying.

Yeah. This seems like a weird vBulletin quirk since I experience the same thing at multiple sites. Even when do log in, it doesn't show me as logged in. But like chrisenrut says, navigating away from the home page will show that you're actually logged in.

I've noticed that if I go to 'utahby5.com' instead of 'www.utahby5.com', it makes me re-log in.

It is something I want to look into. I think it has to do with the cookie paths.

It's been a crazy busy day without the possibility of being online at all for anything, let alone this board. Then I come to discover I've been censured ... or warned, or whatever ... Interesting.
