I've read that hitting a major league pitch is probably the most difficult physical thing to do in all of sports. This sums up why quite nicely.

This also doesn't factor in that you have a round ball hitting a round bat. The contact point for a hr is incredibly small.

Then consider you can teach a toddler to hit a pitch (albeit not a MLB pitch). Humans are amazing.
