I never thought about this, but it makes sense.
When puzzle manufacturers cut a puzzle into pieces, they are probably using a machine that stamps right through and cuts them all at the same time. Furthermore, they probably use the same machine for different puzzle images. What this means is that you can take pieces of one puzzle and cleanly fit them into other puzzles.
