All open mic fans. I have a request.

I would like a report from F&T for the following items

1. Time from after the opening testimony of the bishopric to when the 3rd testimony is complete
2. The number of testimonies given after the 3rd
3. Total time alotted for testimonies at your meeting(from after the bish testimony to their closing statement)

I cannot reveal the reason for this as it may skew reporting.

Thank you for your help with this data collecting adventure.

Does the location /State figure into your data collection? I would be curious how/if it differs region to region.

No, but feel free to add it. I think it would be interesting as well.

I'll be home with a sick kid, but I can foresee what it'll be here. First 3 testimonies = 2 1/2 minutes......a line of 8-10 kids "I'd like to bear my testimony....." Followed by maybe 5-6 adults, and, of course, the sister missionaries. :wuap:

When you say the first 3, does that 3 include the bishopric testimony?

No. Time starts after the bishopric testimony as well

1. 10 minutes (one member has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer and took a little longer than usual)

2. 12 more testimonies after the 3rd one

3. 49 minutes (we went 7-8 minutes over time because a lot of people wanted to talk).

This was in a suburban ward in Los Angeles.

Sorry I can't help as I was up all night with work. I would ask my wife but she was distracted by the guy in the row in front of her who was trying to touch the hair and bra strap of the woman in front of him. He also was, um, touching himself.

I hate to skew the results but it's an honest report.

First three - 23 minutes. (10/8/5)(Visiting former stake president walked down memory lane, and turn the meeting about "remeber when" love fest. Speaker #2 was so inspired that he mentioned about 20 people b name, and how much he loved them, after he recited "He stopped loving her Today" by George Jones.)

Eight.

Midway through the meeting I was overwhelmed with a full and complete understanding of the atonement that could be described in easy-to-understand terms, along with an undeniable conviction that I should share it with the congregation, but I didn't want to skew the results of Jarid's experiment so I stayed seated. My understanding has now passed.

Hey - we still haven't gotten Jarid's report on this data.

We had a talk by a good friend of mine. He never cited scripture but he did use analogies from the movies "Money Ball" and "The Sandlot". Awesome.

First testimony was quite possibly the worst testimony I've heard in a church setting, completely zapped the spirit from the meeting. Followed by a good 7 minutes of silence and then two other quite strange testimonies. Five minutes left, a guy got up and shared a quick good one about his wife and him getting married and another from a dad who baptized his son the day before. The final 5 minutes should have swapped for the first 30.

This actually happened last week because Stake Conference was this week.

Highlight of the meeting was a very intelligent 9 year old boy from a well-respected family. He made his way to the pulpit and was all business:

"I'm only up here because my mom said she'd give me M&M's if I came up."

The congregation exploded with unconstrained laughter. The kid smiled approvingly, said all of the usual things and sat down. Gotta love F&T Meeting.

So, what does this all mean?
That the average testimony is around 3 minutes long, whether it's in the first 3 or later on?
