A good start for the league last night going 5 for 5 with Utah and Cal probably surprising some folks. Cal trailed early against Pepperdine, but rallied for a convincing win. We'll take anything we can get from Cal this season.

Three more games tonight, but nothing to write home about.

The first big opportunities the league has come on Friday:

Washington vs. Baylor in Alaska
Arizona St. vs. Colorado in China (irony).

Pepperdine came into the season at like 104 in the KenPom ratings and Cal was 178, so Pepperdine was a projected winner by those measures. I think the expectation of Cal is that they could be historically bad. A home game vs. them will most likely be a Q4 game, which is why we'll take any win that keeps them in the top 200. As it is, they moved from 178 to 152, so, moving on up!

Maybe I'm incriminating myself on my inattentiveness to PAC 12 basketball right now, but why are you ASU and Colorado playing in China? Does it count as a conference game? That's two of the projected better teams in the conference so it will be interesting to see how that goes.

It's part of the Pac 12 China series...I think this is the third year they've done it? Last year it was Cal and Yale.

The Pac-12 has started well. No huge wins, but no embarrassing losses either. And because of that, we can all root against Arizona right now with a clear conscience.

Baylor and Iowa St. are really good wins, I think.

Oregon gets a crack at Memphis tomorrow, which should be a top 50 team all year long. Oregon St. plays Oklahoma in the same event. Even WSU going to Santa Clara and getting a win would be nice.

But yes! Good start for the league!

Cal vs. UNLV (UNLV actually plays Pac 12 foes back to back, getting UCLA on Friday)

WSU @ Santa Clara - Believe it or not, this game could help Wazzu and the league. Santa Clara is 122 in KenPom and a road win for WSU would be really nice.

The great thing about knowing that we don't have a tournament team this season is being able to root against other Pac-12 teams without any conflict.
