If Tony Jones were covering Utah football maybe we'd see articles like this in the Trib.

Decade-long success has made Utah football a pro pipeline (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865579286/Mike-Grant-Decade-long-success-has-made-Utah-football-a-pro-pipeline.html)

Since 2003, the Utes have had 27 players get their names called at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. From No. 1 overall pick Alex Smith in 2005 to No. 252 overall pick (out of 254) Freddie Brown in 2009, the simple fact is that the University of Utah gets players drafted. The trend continued in the 2013 NFL draft with No. 14 overall pick Star Lotulelei getting taken by the Carolina Panthers (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865578992/Star-Lotulelei-taken-at-No-14-in-the-2013-NFL-Draft-by-the-Carolina-Panthers.html) and then with Joe Kruger going to the Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865579103/Eagles-take-Utahs-Joe-Kruger-in-the-7th-round-of-NFL-Draft.html) in the seventh round.

Compared to their Pac-12 foes, Utah keeps pace, which is astounding considering the Utes have only been in the conference for two years...

He is doing some coverage of football, just not primary coverage. Better than nothing.

It seems to me the Utes have a fair number of free agents who end up sticking with teams. Recent examples are Matt Asiata, Derrick Shelby, etc. Does anyone have any data on what percentage of FAs end up making a roster?

Pure guesswork, but I would say the league average is one UDFA per team (53 man roster) per year. I would guess an NFL team brings in about 15 UDFAs every year. So you're talking about a 7-8 percent chance of making a team, or odds of 16 to 1

Morgan is a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan so I am sure that he is excited that his former teammate will be running the offense for his favorite NFL team.

Thanks for posting the pic.
